HELLO FROM YOUR COUNSELORS!

WELCOME!
From Mrs. Vargas:
Hello and thank you for visiting our website! My name is Alexandra Todd Vargas and I am excited to continue my role as the School Counselor at Esencia! This will be my 8th year in Capistrano Unified. It has been so special being a part of the inaugural team here at Esencia and I can't wait to welcome the new students and parents of the Esencia community. I am on campus Mondays - Fridays am located in the main office building, and can be reached at advargas@capousd.org

From Mr. Soto:
Greetings Esencia community! My name is Matt Soto and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to join the staff as a School Counselor for the 2022-2023 year. I look forward to getting to know the students and parents of the Hawk community throughout this upcoming school year. This is my first year as a School Counselor in Capistrano Unified after coming from Carlsbad Unified last year. I will be on campus 2-3 days a week as I am sharing my time with Vista Del Mar in San Clemente. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime at mjsoto@capousd.org

We get the opportunity to interact with every student through teaching lessons in the classroom. In addition, we provide a variety of services to children, parents, teachers, and staff. These include but are not limited to: individual counseling, small group counseling, social emotional classroom lessons, voluntary workshops, and parent information sessions on topics like stress and anxiety and trends in social media. We also try to make ourselves available during recess or lunch time to check in with students and consult with teachers and staff members.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have regarding the counseling program. Our telephone number here is (949) 234-9900. We welcome the opportunity to work with you and your students throughout the year!
